In a time when healthcare in Siam was mostly based off of Chinese and Thai traditional medicine and local wisdom, a group of British expatriates got together and proposed to H.M. King Chulalongkorn the establishment of a hospital that followed contemporary British medical practices. The idea was agreed to and in 1898, Bangkok Nursing Home (BNH) opened its doors and originally catered to foreign residents. Despite many challenges over the next century, BNH Hospital continued to prove its value to the people of Bangkok and expanded its footprint – the institution grew from a small rented structure to modern complex on Convent Road.
Today, BNH Hospital offers world-class medical services via its specialists and general practitioner doctors who are wholly invested in their patients. The concept of ‘the Family Doctor’ is highly instilled in every professional. Regardless of the department, centre, or clinic within the hospital, the staff works as a team to bring the patient from consultation to treatment completion with care. BNH Hospital has undergone rigorous screening to ensure it meets international standards for health care services and received the Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation for its hospital program.
The hospital has brought its services beyond its doorstep and reached out into the various communities. With its [email protected] program, BNH Hospital works with partner hotels and conducts 5-day courses to train hotel staff in intensive life support care and first aid training. Guests can stay in these accommodations with a peace of mind knowing they are in good hands of the staff. BNH Hospital has released an app, [email protected], for travelers to activate in case of emergencies and alert trained staff of any partner hotels to quickly go to where they are.
BNH Hospital is between Silom Road and Sathorn Road, placing it a stone’s throw away from business, financial, and entertainment district of Bangkok. It is easily reached by car or public transportation. Sala Daeng BTS Station and Silom MRT Station are both a ten-minute walk away from the hospital.
