Event

Underground Film Festival

When

Sat 25 February - Sun 5 March 2017

How to get there

  • Take the Skytrain to Saphan Taksin BTS Station and walk along Charoen Krung Road

The Bangkok Underground Film Festival 2017 will be staged across 3 venues, an open air community screening at Arunkarn (a new space next to Wat Don, down Charoen Krung towards Asiatique) on the first 2 nights, video art work at Bridge Art Space (with experimental multimedia performances on the opening night), and more critical work the last night at Gallery Ver in their warehouse carpark. The organizers believe the medium is the message and have sought unconventional venues for this festival.

Most of the material has been selected by the organizers from an open call (from which they received an overwhelming amount of work) which they have curated into what has both artistic merits and was of this moment in time. The underlying themes that emerged for this year are Dystopia, Authoritarianism, and the Supernatural. Yet a lot also had an unmistakable human quality that told us there still is hope. Half of what we are screening is from Thailand and the other half from 21 other countries.
