Following the success of over 16,500,000 pieces of mooncake sold, this year Executive Chinese Chef Andy Leong and his team heartfeltly crafted mooncakes in four tempting flavours. These four flavours include the popular Custard, classic Salted Lotus Seed with Egg Yolk, Durian with Egg Yolk and new flavour for 2021 Caramel Butter with Macadamia Nuts. Bridging the east and the west this year’s exclusive new flavour makes Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok’s mooncakes once again the perfect gift for everyone.
Every year Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok introduces a new flavour created from the combination of different cultures. The new flavour for 2021 – Caramel Butter with Macadamia Nuts reflected teamwork across the culinary team and was created from the collaboration between Executive Chef Dominique Bugnand and Executive Chinese Chef Andy Leong while the other three flavours are all-time classic choices.
For mooncake purchase in August 2021, our FANs of mooncakes will enjoy not only their favourite flavours but also chances to win prizes. In light of the hotel’s 145 years of iconic hospitality, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok will surprise our FANs of mooncakes with “I’m a FAN of Mooncakes” ticket which will be included in every Oriental classic mooncake gift box sold between 2 – 31 August 2021. The 145 attractive prizes range from luxurious accommodations to dining experiences including sweet treats from The Mandarin Oriental Shops. The Grand Prize is a one-night stay in the hotel’s iconic Oriental Suite, valued at THB 450,000.
This year the hotel presents mooncakes in two designs of gift box and red colour is a significant colour. According to Chinese culture, red colour symbolises happiness, beauty, vitality, good luck, success and good fortune. The mooncake gift boxes feature a motif of Thai orchid symbolising love, beauty and high-class status. The colour and design makes our mooncake gift box meaningful, perfect for being gifts for families, friends, business partners to celebrate this tradition.
Each box includes eight pieces of mooncake. As always, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok strives to provide not only a luxurious experience with authenticity but also personalisation. Clients can request for customization by choosing their preferred flavours from the four on offer for their mooncake purchase.
