Sofia Castellanos is a star on the rise within the Mexico City art scene. A native to the Mexican Capital, Castellanos has developed as an artist, muralist and illustrator in the last few years.
Her work celebrates the triumph of life and the feminine gift of creation. Her deceptively simple and yet elaborate detailed aesthetic, a combination of floral, natural elements and the human face, has been featured during huge events such as the Corona Capital Music Festival, the Holi Festival of Colors and the NFL BALLPARADE. She has also worked with important brands such as Cerveza Indio, Café Olé and recently collaborated with Chanel and Grupo Expansión creating an exclusive Art collection portraying 31 of Mexico´s most important women.
“My work is an illustrated story that merges from imagination and memories, self experiences have always been my primary source of inspiration. My creative process is all about spontaneity, about experimenting with different techniques. I feel fascinated by the complexity of all living things, which has led me to develop exotic and wonderful characters, detailed and diverse as this unique world I have created for them.”
Sofia is in Bangkok to create her new mural in the heart of the Creative District Bangkok thanks to the generous support and collaboration of the Embassy of Mexico, Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Warehouse 30, Creative District Foundation and Bangkok River Partners.
