Loy Krathong is a magical event that marks the ancient tradition of honouring the Water Goddess on the full moon of the twelfth month of the lunar calendar.

Throughout the country you will witness small lotus-shaped vessels, known as Krathong, floating on lakes, canals and rivers, as people set them sail believing that it will ‘wash away’ their sins and seek good luck in the coming year.

This year all of us definitely wish to celebrate as well as to give thanks for all the fortune we have had. At Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok we celebrate Loy Krathong in truly memorable fashion with traditional dance shows, mouth-watering dishes, a spectacular firework display over the Chao Phraya River and each guest will be given their own Krathong to float down the River of Kings.

With an idyllic setting on the banks of Chao Phraya River, our Riverside Terrace offers alfresco dining with beautiful international buffet offering magnificent Western, Asian and Thai favourites such as Cured salmon with lemongrass and kaffir lime served with chili jam mayonnaise, Northern-style Hang Lay Curry Yellow, curry with organic chicken and young jackfruit, Whole-roasted pig with condiments, Char-grilled blue rive prawns with chilli-lime dipping, Char-grilled lamb chops with mint sauce, Char-grilled skewered Garcinia wood Chicken with herbs and much more. While enjoying fine cuisine, guests will be entertained by Thai dance performance, a beautiful procession and a ‘Krathong’ contest, and Miss Noppamas contest. After dinner, guests will be amazed with a firework display.
